Artist's Comments
Part of a two-painting series. The assignment was to place one or more objects in two different contexts. In this, I found a photograph of a pair of gargoyles sitting on a building. I replaced one of those gargoyles with a long-legged water bird (a heron?). Yes, it's purposely expressionistic and monochromatic, not just messy.
